For the best experience in therapy it is important that the relationship between therapist and client is a good fit. People tell me that they like to work with me because I work interactively and with compassion. I use a variety of methods, depending upon what is appropriate for each client.

We may use only talk therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) , or we may do some simple visualizations as we work. For some people paying attention to body cues and the breath is especially important.

I like people and I like to know what makes them tick. I have a natural curiosity that helps a lot in the practice of psychotherapy. Sometimes one of the hardest tasks for those who enter therapy for the first time is learning to be curious about themselves without judgment. It takes a lot of courage to open up to another person and share pain or concerns that impact one’s happiness.

Some people have an easy time talking about their issues while others find it difficult. I am able to meet you at the beginning point that is right for you. It is sometimes useful to think of therapy as a journey, where you get to set the pace, determine the starting point and where you want to go. Though you will undoubtedly encounter surprises along the way, as you would in any journey, you will always have the option to alter the pace or the direction you take.
